The petitioners through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondents to pay them assessed amount of compensation on account of damage to wheat crop due to heavy rainfall and hailstorm in the year 2005. They are also seeking interest @ 12% per annum with effect from 20.04.2005. 2.

The petitioners are farmers and residents of village Abul Khurana, Tehsil Malout, District Sri Muktsar Sahib. Their wheat crop was damaged in the year 2005 due to heavy rainfall and hailstorm. The compensation was assessed by the respondents which was disbursed to affected farmers leaving the petitioners due to land dispute qua which this PARAMJIT KAUR SAINI 2026.05.27 16:44 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP No.17340-2026(O&M) -2Court vide order dated 01.01.1989 in RSA-1447-1989 had ordered to keep the operation of decree of the appellate Court in abeyance. They filed a spate of representations seeking release of compensation during the pendency of RSA but to no avail. The said RSA was disposed of vide order dated 24.09.2024 in the light of compromise entered into between the parties. They served legal notice dated 16.09.2025 upon the respondents seeking release of assessed compensation but the same has not been addressed till date.

Learned counsel for the respondent-State submits that competent authority would consider petitioners' claim and address their grievance in accordance with law, within six months from today. 4.

Learned counsel for the petitioners agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statement of both sides, the petition stands disposed of.
