HARINDER SINGH SIDHU, J The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution seeking direction to respondent Nos.1 to 3 to provide protection to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondent Nos.5 to 7.

It has been averred that the date of birth of petitioner No.1 is 13.09.2002 while date of birth of petitioner No.2 is 08.03.2002. Copies of Aadhar Cards of petitioner No.1 and petitioner No.2 to this effect are attached as Annexures P-1 & P.2 respectively. It is stated that petitioner No.1 came in contact of petitioner No.2 and fell in love with him. She is stated to be residing with petitioner No.2. Though petitioner No.1 told her parents about her relationship and sought permission of marriage with petitioner No.2 but her parents refused her in this regard and threatened the petitioners to face dire consequences. It is stated that the petitioners are constantly being called by the police officials of P.S Shimlapuri, Ludhiana at the instance of respondent Nos.5 to 7 i.e parents and brother of petitioner No.1. CRWP No.9422 of 2020 #2# false criminal case as they are being pressurized to return home. Now, both the petitioners, who have attained majority, want to marry each other. The petitioners have submitted representation dated 05.11.2020 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their lives and liberty at the hands of the private respondent.

After hearing counsel for the petitioners and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case and the age of the petitioners and keeping in view the binding precedent of the Hon'ble Apex Court in Lata Singh v. State of U.P. And another, 2006(2) SCC (Criminal) 478, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to look into the said issue and take necessary action in accordance with law.
