-.- JAISHREE THAKUR J. (ORAL) The petitioner herein had applied for the post of Constable in Armed Police Cadre as well as in District Police Cadre under BC category. The last selected candidates under BC category in Armed Police Cadre as well as in District Police Cadre had obtained 28 marks. Though the petitioner had also obtained 28 marks, he could not be offered appointment being junior in age, in view of Clause 6 of Standing Order No.1/2006 issued by the Director General of Police, Punjab on the subject of recruitment of Constable (Male/Female) in District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre Police, which provides that while preparing a combined final merit list, in the event of two candidates securing equal marks, a candidate senior in age shall be accorded preference. The date of birth of the petitioner is 26.04.

1995 and the dates of birth of last selected candidates in Armed Police Cadre and District Police Cadre are 28.08.1994 and 15.12.1992 respectively, thus, concededly they are elder in age. In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances, the instant petition stands dismissed. However, if anything still survives in the writ petition, the petitioner will be at liberty to approach this Court for redressal of his grievance.
