The present writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of an appropriate writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and their family members from respondent No.5, who is allegedly continuously harassing and threatening them, including threats of falsely implicating the petitioners and their family members in fabricated criminal cases to settle personal scores. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that for redressal of their grievance, the petitioners have already filed representation dated 21.05.2026 (Annexure P-2) before the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, however, no action has been taken on the same till date. 3.
Notice of motion only to the official respondents. 4.

Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the submission made by learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3Commissioner of Police, District Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana, to decide the representation dated 21.05.2026 (Annexure P-2) filed by the petitioners, qua threat perception in accordance with law within a period of one month from today and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, is perceived. 6.
It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
