The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ or direction to the respondent no.2 to 6 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and her family members as they apprehends immediate danger to their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner does not press the prayer qua taking action on the representations dated 04.05.2026 and 16.05.2026 (Annexures P-9 & P-12) filed by the petitioner and reserves her right to take appropriate steps as available to her in accordance with law. However, learned counsel for the petitioner has vehemently submitted that life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members is at peril at the hands of private respondents who are bent upon to cause harm to the petitioner.

Mr. Japjot Singh, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State and further submits that there are multiple versions and cross versions between the parties.

Considering the nature of the order being passed, this Court does not deem it necessary to issue notice to respondent Nos. 7 to 11, who are private respondents.

In view of above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No. 4-Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, District Sangrur, to look into the grievance, raised by the petitioner within one week from today and to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members are duly protected in accordance with law. 7.

However, it is made clear that the present order shall not be construed as a direction to initiate any vexatious or unwarranted proceedings either against the private respondents or against the petitioner. Any action taken by the authorities shall be strictly in accordance with law based upon cogent material and credible evidence.
