Prayer in the present petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and personal liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondent No.4. Further prayer has been made for directing respondents No.2 and 3 not to allow/let respondent No.4 or anybody else to interfere with the life and liberty of the petitioners or to harass them in any manner. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 is minor and she is before this Court through her mother. He submits that presently, petitioners No.1 and 2 are living together. He submits that father of petitioner No.1 forcibly wants to marry petitioner No.1 with someone else and thus, prays for their protection. They apprehend danger from the private respondents. The petitioners have submitted a representation dated 25.05.2026 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, District Patiala.

Mr. K.D. Sachdeva, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the State. He has submitted that petitioner No.1, who is minor, may be given a counselling session for her welfare.

Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, District Patiala to decide the representation dated 25.05.2026 (Annexure P-3) of the petitioners. It is an admitted fact that petitioner No.1 is minor and thus, she be sent to Gandhi Vanita Ashram, located at Kapurthala-Jalandhar Road, near Kapurthala Chowk, in the Sangat Colony, Adarsh Nagar area of Jalandhar, Punjab, Pin Code-14001. Respondent-State is directed to ensure the protection of petitioner No.1, who is minor, till she attains the age of majority. Child Welfare Committee, Patiala is also directed to carry supervision of petitioner No.1, and conduct regular counseling sessions with her. Respondent No.
2Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, District Patiala is further directed to grant protection to petitioner No.2, if any threat to his life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them. This order would not be understood having expressed any opinion whatsoever by this Court on the validity of their relationship. 6.
