Petitioners have filed this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to release gratuity to them as per provisions of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that petitioners have submitted notice (Annexure P-1) before the respondents for redressal of their grievance but no action has been taken on the same so far.

Accordingly, without adverting to the merits of the case, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to dispose of the notice (Annexure P-1) expeditiously, in accordance with law, preferably within two months from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order. In case, petitioners are found entitled for the grant of the relief sought by them, payment of the amount in question be released to them within one month thereafter.
