The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of appropriate directions to respondents No.2 to 6 to take appropriate action against respondent No.8 (Sarpanch) of village Mangat and the Panchayat concerned for committing irregularities and theft by cutting and removing trees from the land reserved for storing animal dung and waste to scheduled caste community and other habitants of the village and by converting the same in the shape of a park.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondent No.8, who is the Sarpanch of the village, has illegally cut and removed the trees from the land provided to scheduled caste community

CRWP-6428-2026 -2for storing the animal dung and has sold the same, upon which, a big ground has been made for the personal use by the Sarpanch, as the said land is adjoining to the house of the said Sarpanch. It is also contened that respondent No.8 has also cut and removed the trees standing in the Gram Panchayat land and mis-utilized the proceeds of the trees and, as such, has committed a cognizable offence. It is further submitted that the matter was brought in the knowledge of the B.D.P.O. (Block Development Panchayat Officer) Banga, and relevant documents were also given. It is further contended that the inhabitants of the village have already approached the Panchayat authorities for taking an appropriate action under the relevant provisions i.e. Sections 208 and 20 of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, but no action has been taken. 3.

Mr. Anup Singh, AAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and submitted that no representation in this regard has been received by the concerned department and further submitted that in case a representation in this regard is received then the competent authority will take an appropriate action on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law.

Keeping in view the statement made on behalf of learned counsel for the State, the present petition is disposed of and the petitioner may move a representation for redressal of their grievance(s) to the quarters concerned and upon, receipt of the same, the State is directed to
