Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that they have married each other against the wishes of the parents and relatives of petitioner No.1 and on account of this act on their part, they are under threat of being eliminated at the hands of respondents No. 4 to 11. In view of the above, seeking protection, a representation dated 12.11.2020 (Annexure P5) was made on behalf of the petitioners to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, but to no avail.

In the above circumstances, the petitioners have approached this Court through the present petition.

Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, particularly the validity of the alleged marriage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala RAVINDER SINGH 2020.11.19 18:31 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRWP-9587-2020 (respondent No.2) to forthwith consider the aforesaid representation dated 12.11.2020 (Annexure P-5) made on behalf of the petitioners and thereafter take appropriate action on the same as is deemed fit in accordance with law to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to validate the alleged marriage of the petitioners or protect them from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
