(ORAL) By this petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constituton of India, the petitioners seek protection of life and liberty at the hands of respondents no. 4 to 6, as they are stated be in a live-in relationship with each other (as contended), against the wishes of the said respondents. Reply by way of affidavit of Mr.Saravjeet Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division, Dera Baba Nanak, Police District Batala, District Gurdaspur, on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 3, filed today in the Court, is taken on record.

CRWP-9696-2021 The relevant extract of the reply reads as under:- "5. That, it is humbly submitted that ASI Raghbir Singh, Investigating Officer, Police Station Dera Baba Nanak had got recorded the statement of Amandeep Kaur W/o Amarjit Singh S/o Darshan Singh R/o Gago Mahal, Amritsar at present Veroke PS.Dera Baba Nanak aged about 27 years wherein she has stated that "my marriage was solemnized with Amarjit Singh S/o Darshan Singh R/o Gago Mahal, District Amritsar since about 6 years ago. I had filed a complaint in the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh against my husband Amarjit Singh, mother in law Paramjit Kaur, father in law Darshan Singh for harassing and demand of dowry and also against Tarsem Singh, paternal uncle(Chacha), Ranjit Kaur, paternal aunt (Chachi) resident of Kot Mugal PS.

Ramdass for threatening her and at present I have no any threat perception from my matrimonial/ parental family. At present there is no any threat perception to me from anyone. I am residing with Manpreet Singh S/o Rashpal Singh R/o Veroke PS.Dera Baba Nanak peacefully. If No feel any threat from any one I will inform you".

That it is humbly submitted that at present there is no any threat perception to the petitioner from anyone. However SHO Police Station Dera Baba Nanak has been given directions to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners as and when the petitioners approach him and further directions were made that if so required the preventive action against the private respondent be taken accordingly."

In view of above, the instant petition is dismissed as having been rendered infructuous.
