(ORAL) Prayer in the present petition, filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the expeditious and time-bound disposal of Original Application No.668 of 2019 titled as Hoshiar Singh vs Ministry of Railways and others, pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Chandigarh Bench, within a stipulated time frame.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that Original Application No.668 of 2019 was filed on 03.07.2019 and the pleadings in the Original Application were completed on 10.12.2020 (Annexure P-3) but HARSHA RANI 2026.06.01 11:08 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP-18377-2026 -2still the matter has remained pending without final adjudication for more than six years after completion of pleading. However, despite the lapse of considerable time thereafter, the same has not yet been decided and the matter is now stands adjourned to 07.08.2026. It is further submitted that the petitioner was more than 46 years of age at the relevant time and the delay in adjudication is causing prejudice to the petitioner, since the dispute relates to promotion and consequential service benefits out of an old selection has been raised before this Court.

The right to a speedy trial is part of the judicial process, hence, without going into the merits of case or even reading the allegations, the Tribunal is requested to dispose of Original Application No.668 of 2019 titled as Hoshiar Singh vs Ministry of Railways and others, either by the next date of hearing or within a period of three months from the next date of hearing.

Disposed of accordingly.
