HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI, J. (ORAL) Prayer in the present petition, filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari, for quashing the impugned order dated 04.05.2026 (Annexure P-3) passed by respondent No.5 whereby, the representation dated 21.04.2026 (Annexure P-1) seeking correction of the voter list of Ward No.8, Kartarpur, District Jalandhar has been partly rejected. 2.

In the alternative, a prayer has been made for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing respondents No.2 to 4 to conduct immediate verification and correction of the electoral roll of Ward No.8, Kartarpur, District Jalandhar and to take action against the illegalities and GURPREET KAUR 2026.05.29 19:32 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP-18263-2026 -2irregularities in the voter List of Ward No.8 as the same contains several discrepancies.

After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that against the rejection of the correction in the voter list, the liberty be given to file an appeal before the Punjab State Election Commission.
