* * * * S.J. VAZIFDAR, C.J. (ORAL) The petitioners at this stage merely seek an order directing the respondent to decide their representation dated 11.12.2017 (Annexure P-23).

The respondent shall do so. It is made clear that the pendency of the representation will not be a ground for the petitioners not adopting appropriate proceedings in accordance with law for challenging the impugned demand notice at Annexure P-1. The petitioners are at liberty to challenge the order in accordance with law. Needless to add that the petitioners shall also be entitled to apply for interim orders in the proceedings that they may adopt for the purpose of challenging the levy. It is clarified that the decision on the petitioners' representation shall be taken irrespective of the petitioners adopting any other remedy.
