The petitioners are residents of village Dhani Hargobindpura, which is a part of the Gram Panchayat area of village Patti Sadiq, Tehsil Abohar, District Fazilka. Pursuant to the Government Notification dated 26.05.2017 inviting applications for constitution of separate Gram Panchayats, the petitioners and other residents of village Dhani Hargobindpura are claimed to have applied on 10.08.2017 for constitution of a separate Gram Panchayat for their village Dhani Hargobindpura. No decision having been taken on their application so far, they seek a writ of mandamus to the prescribed Authority to decide their above-stated claim. [2] We have heard learned counsel for the petitioners.
