**** RAJ MOHAN SINGH, J. (Oral) Petitioner has preferred this writ petition for the issuance of an appropriate writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent- District Magistrate, Karnal to decide the application dated 02.01.2021 filed by the petitioner for grant of arms licence at the earliest.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a practising advocate and needs arms licence for the purchase of a weapon. Necessary police verification has already been done and Superintendent of Police has already given clearance on 25.03.2021. Even on second time, the Superintendent of Police has verified the antecedents of the petitioner and recommended the issuance of arms licence in JYOTI SHARMA 2022.09.02 17:29 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

CWP No. 19704 of 2022 -2view of threat perception of the petitioner. The application filed by the petitioner on 02.01.2021 has not been dealt with by the District Magistrate, Karnal till date.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that at this stage, the petitioner would be satisfied in case appropriate directions are issued to District Magistrate, Karnal to decide his pending application at the earliest in accordance with relevant fact and rules.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Sharan Sethi, Addl. A.G., Haryana accepts notice on behalf of the respondent. This writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to consider the pending application of the petitioner and pass appropriate order in accordance with law, preferably within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
