***** ARCHANA PURI, J. (Oral) The petitioners have invoked the jurisdiction of this Court under Article 227 of Constitution of India, for issuance of direction to learned Rent Controller, to expeditiously decide the rent petition i.e. CIS No. RP/451/2019.

Status report has been received from the concerned Officer. Perusal of the same reveals that the file, at first instance, was dealt by the Court on 15.10.2019. Thereafter, it remained pending for service upon the respondent. Thereafter, due to Covid-19 situation, no effective proceedings, as such, were conducted, for a period of about two years. Thereafter, the case is being dealt by the Officer, by giving short adjournments, not beyond two weeks.

The present Presiding Officer had dealt with the case after joining on transfer on 24.05.2023 and thereafter also, the case is being SONU 2023.09.20 16:03 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

2023:PHHC:123383 CR-4376-2023 adjourned for the evidence of RW-1, Sonia Dhillon. Even, learned counsel for the petitioner had sought adjournment at times for conducting of crossexamination of RW-1 Sonia Dhillon. Also, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the case was fixed yesterday for hearing before the Court below, but however, no proceeding, as such, had been conducted.

Though the Court is giving short adjournments, but however, the petitioner is stated to be a senior citizen and this Court has issued various instructions time and again, with regard to the expeditious disposal of the cases, relating to senior citizens, as the same fall in the distinctive category. In view of the same, learned Lower Court shall make an endeavour, to dispose of the rent petition, expeditiously. Accordingly, the instant revision petition stands disposed of.
