The petitioners are residents of Ward No.3, Balmiki Basti, VPO Kalayat, District Kaithal. They allege large-scale irregularities in the day-to-day functioning of Harijan Cooperative Society Ltd., Kalayat which is admittedly a Cooperative Society registered in 1950s.

The petitioners are said to have made complaints to various authorities. It is, however, undeniable that the affairs of a Cooperative Society are regulated by the statutory authorities prescribed under the Haryana Cooperative Societies Act, 1984. There are ample powers vested in the authorities under the Act to call for the records; hold a fact-finding enquiry and take appropriate action against the management of the Society, if need be. We thus dispose of the writ petition with liberty to the petitioners to approach the Prescribed Authorities under the Act. shall decide the same in accordance with law and in accordance with the principles of natural justice by way of passing a reasoned order within a period of six months from the date of filing of such petition. (3)
