The petitioner, who is a practicing Advocate, approached this Court seeking various reliefs including the relief for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari so as to quash the complaint dated 25.9.2024 pending before the Disciplinary Committee - VIII and the inquiry arising out of the said complaint titled 'Manpreet Kaur Vs. Devinder Kumar Sharma'. 2.

Pursuant to issuance of notice of motion, learned counsel representing respondent No.1 has filed short reply by way of affidavit of Shri Malkit Singh, Additional Secretary Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana which is accompanied by copy of order dated 12.6.2025 vide which license of the petitioner has been suspended for a period of one year. A copy of letter of even date i.e. 12.6.2025, which is stated to be a covering letter for the purpose PANKAJ KAKKAR 2026.01.16 16:10 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh

CWP-17498-2025 (O&M) ( 2 ) of conveying the aforesaid suspension order to the petitioner as well as to the complainant is also annexed therewith. The reply filed on behalf of respondent No.1 is taken on record.

Since the aforesaid suspension order is stated to have come into existence before filing of the instant writ petition, we deem it appropriate to dispose of the instant petition with liberty to the petitioner to assail the said order by way of filing statutory appeal before Bar Council of India. It is clarified that while filing such appeal the petitioner would be at liberty to raise all such pleas as have been raised in the instant petition. 4.

Since the order dated 12.6.2025 is an ex-parte order, it is expected that in case any appeal is filed before the Bar Council of India, the appeal shall be disposed of expeditiously having regard to the fact that the petitioner is a young Advocate, who had recently joined the profession. 5.

Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.
