(ORAL) The petitioner-Ishreet Kaur, claiming herself to be outstanding sports person, is seeking a mandamus directing the respondents - Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, to consider her candidature for admission in B.Sc. (Hons.) (Agriculture) 2+4 years course for the academic session 2020-21 against five per cent (5%) reservation provided for outstanding sports person. Counsel for the petitioner heard.

It is not in dispute that the total number of seats to be filled up in the aforesaid course is one hundred and twenty (120), and five per cent (5%) of the same comes to six (06) seats. It is also not in dispute that as per the short-listed candidates for admission under the Sports Category against the said six (06) seats, the petitioner has been ranked at number eleven (11). (06) seats have been consumed by the candidates higher in rank than
