The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to correct Date of Birth in her passport.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that correct Date of Birth of the petitioner is 03.03.1962 whereas in the passport, inadvertently it is recorded as 03.03.1963. The petitioner was issued passport on 18.08.2015 and it is valid upto 17.08.2025. The petitioner needs correction of Date of Birth because it does not synchronize with other documents, thus, the petitioner is facing problem.

Mr. Amit Sharma, counsel for Union of India submits that the petitioner has neither submitted matriculation certificate nor birth certificate. Thus, the date of birth recorded in passport could not be corrected. However, the petitioner is at liberty to approach the competent authority with documents ARCHANA ARORA 2023.09.11 16:20 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this order/judgment

Ms. Harpreet Kaur, counsel for the petitioner submits that husband of the petitioner was in Indian Army and he has declared particulars of the petitioner in different documents. The petitioner, being an illiterate lady is neither having matriculation certificate nor birth certificate and she is dependent upon information furnished with Indian Army by her husband. 5.

In the wake of statement of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before respondents on 28.09.2023 along with requisite documents. On doing so, the competent authority shall pass an appropriate order within six weeks thereafter.
