Mandeep Kaur v. State Of Punjab And ORS
IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA
AT CHANDIGARH -.- CRWP-39275-2020 (O&M) Date of decision : 18.12.2020 Mandeep Kaur .....Petitioner Vs.
State of Punjab and others ....Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MRS. JUSTICE ALKA SARIN
Present:
Mr. Akhilesh Vyas, Advocate, for the petitioner. ALKA SARIN, J. (ORAL) Heard through video conferencing.
Learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that despite the petitioner having sent a representation to respondent Nos.2 and 4, no action has been taken. The further contention of learned counsel for the petitioner is that marriage of the petitioner was solemnized on 13.06.2018 with one Manjinder Singh and dowry articles were given as per their capacity. There is one male child born out of the wedlock. There were, thereafter, further demands made by the husband. It is further the allegation that on 25.09.2020, while the petitioner was at her parental house, the accused persons respondent Nos.4 to 8 came to her house armed with sharp-edged weapons and gave all of them beatings.
The learned counsel has further stated that at this stage he limits his prayer in the present petition and would be satisfied if the official respondents look into the representation (Annexure P-5) submitted by the petitioner within a specified period. Notice of motion.

On instructions from ASI Baljit Singh, the learned State counsel has stated that though respondent No.4 is in receipt of the representation dated 02.10.2020, however, no action was taken since the father of the petitioner had produced a compromise alleged to have been entered into between the parties. Learned counsel for the petitioner has denied the factum of any compromise between the parties.
Learned counsel for the State on instructions has stated that since the petitioner has denied the factum of any compromise, respondent No.4 would look into the representation (Annexure P-5) and would take a decision in a time bound manner. In view of the above and in view of the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the present petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.4 to decide the representation (Annexure P-5), in accordance with law, within a period of three weeks' from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
