The writ petition is for a change of date of birth in the mark-sheet issued by the respondent Board pointing out to the error that has crept in while the school was supplying the details regarding date of birth of student to the Board. The school has itself engaged the Board in communication dated 6.12.2012 vide Annexure P-4 pointing out to the fact that the date of birth as entered in the records is only 15.01.1997 and that during registration of class IX, the petitioner and his father consented to have the date of birth registered as 15.01.1996 as per their own online registration form. As per the TC submitted at the time of admission, it appears that the date of birth entered was 15.01.1998. We have, therefore, a situation where the school had three different dates; (i) 15.01.1997 as shown in the date of birth register, (ii) 15.01.1996 as alleged to have been consented by the parents at the PANKAJ KUMAR 2015.02.06 16:46 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP No.8164 of 2014 -2time of class IX admission and (iii) 15.01.1998 as per the entry in the TC. The petitioner's school has created a confusion and the petitioner has worsened. I cannot, therefore, find fault with the Board. However, I do not want the self-inflicted follies of the petitioner to prevail when I have the best of evidence through the birth certificate issued by the Municipal Committee itself and by the application forwarded by the school filled in by the student containing reference to date of birth as 15.01.1997. I find this to be a case of genuine mistake and I direct the respondent to correct the date of birth as 15.01.1997. 2.
