(Oral) The petitioner seeks a mandamus for directing the transfer of investigation in the case FIR No.109 dated 24.12.2013 registered under Sections 21, 27, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Lambra, District Jalandhar City, to some independent agency.

In view of the fact that in a separate petition filed by the petitioner's co-accused Jagjit Singh Chahal seeking identical relief, this Court vide order dated 07.10.2013 passed in CWP No.88 of 2014 (Jagjit Singh Chahal versus State of Punjab and others) and other connected cases has directed the supervision of entire investigation by a team of three Senior Police Officers, we are of the considered view that the allegations against the petitioner are also required to be gone into/monitored by the said Officers' Committee on the analogy of his co-accused. CWP No.8434 of 2014 [2] disposed of in terms of the order passed in Jagjit Singh Chahal's case (supra) and the directions issued therein shall be equally applicable in the case of the petitioner also. Needless to say that the Officers' Committee shall take into account the averments made by the petitioner in this writ petition. The report of the Officers' Committee in the main case shall include the fate of petitioner's case as well. Ordered accordingly.
