Martry Avtar Singh,ASI working in Punjab Police(grand father of the petitioner-Satbir Singh) was killed in an encounter with terrorists at Police Post Sultanwind,Distt.Amritsar on 23.11.1990. Kashmir Singh, uncle of the petitioner , as per Government policy was provided employment. Thereafter father of the petitioner, who was working in police department prior to the death of Martry Avtar Singh, also met with an accident making him totally handicapped. Sister of Martry Avtar Singh moved a representation to the Government for providing employment to petitioner on the ground of financial hardship. Petitioner's claim was rejected on the ground that one member of his family was already in employment hence he was not entitled for such claim. CWP 6868/2016 seeking a direction to official respondents to grant him compassionate appointment being grandson of Martry Avtar Singh,ASI, as a special case.

Notice of motion was issued.

At the time of hearing today,learned counsel for the petitioner, on instructions, states at the Bar that petitioner has got Government employment in some other department and hence he is not interested in pursuing the present writ petition. Accordingly, a prayer is being made for withdrawal of the present writ petition. The learned State counsel has no objection to the withdrawal of the present writ petition.

Dismissed as withdrawn.
