HARNARESH SINGH GILL, J.(Oral) Case is taken up for hearing through Video Conferencing. The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to ensure the protection of life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7, who had illegally taken her in custody on 02.10.2020 without any complaint or registration of any FIR against her. Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that specific allegations in respect of extorting money have been raised against respondents No.4 to 7; that an amount of Rs.30,000/- withdrawn by the son of the petitioner was also paid in cash to them; that they also threatened the petitioner in case of non-payment of the amount to them, and that at one stage, the modesty of the petitioner was also outraged in the police station. I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and gone through the record.

-2CRWP-9934-2020 While poring the documents available on record, it transpires that FIR No.159 dated 01.10.2020, under Section 384, 503 and 120-B IPC, was registered against the petitioner, who had been enlarged on bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bathinda, vide order dated 15.10.2020 (Annexure P-1). As per the order dated 15.10.2020, there were allegations against the petitioner in the aforesaid FIR that her being a facebook friend, had induced the complainant therein; that when he (complainant) met her, she had threatened him to tarnish his image and inform his family regarding the alleged illicit relationship, and that due to the said threat, he had paid an amount of Rs.2,43,000/-. There was also allegation under Section 384 IPC in respect of committing extortion by her.

It appears that the relief sought in the present petition is an attempt on the part of the petitioner to over-awe the police authorities so as not to proceed against her in the above-noted FIR. Keeping in view the above, no ground for interference is made out.

Dismissed.
