The petition has been filed for directing the Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, New Delhi and Joint Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice, New Delhi (respondents No.2 and 3), to finalize the decision on the issue of amendment of various terms and conditions of service of members of Permanent Lok Adalats (Public Utility Services).

CWP No.7892 of 2015 [2] Learned counsel appearing for the respondents has placed on record a letter dated 06.07.2016 issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Justice), New Delhi. In terms of the said letter, it is informed that necessary amendments have been made in the Permanent Lok Adalat (Other Terms and Conditions of Appointment of Chairman and other Persons) Rules, 2003 and the sitting fee of the other persons of Permanent Lok Adalat has been increased from `500/- to `1,500/- per sitting. Besides, conveyance allowance of Chairman and other persons of Permanent Lok Adalat has also been enhanced from `3,000/- to `5,000/- per month for attending the sittings of the Permanent Lok Adalat. The above amendments have been notified and published in the Gazette of India on 22.06.2016. In view of the said letter, the petitioner appearing in person submits that the present petition has been rendered infructuous. Accordingly, the petition is dismissed as having been rendered infructuous.
