Present criminal writ petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India has been filed by the petitioners praying for issuance of direction to official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and to restrain the private respondents No.4 to 7 and their family members not to harass or interfere in the peaceful life of the petitioners. 2.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, his client would be satisfied in case direction is issued to the official respondents to decide the representation dated 30.05.2026 (Annexure P-3) moved at the instance of petitioners by passing a speaking order expeditiously. 3.

Prayer seems to be justified.

Upon advance notice, Mr. Puru Jarewal, DAG, Punjab appears on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and raises no objection to the innocuous prayer made on behalf of the petitioners.

In view of the agreed stand taken by both sides, but without going into the merits of the controversy, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib to look into the representation dated 30.05.2026 (Annexure P-3) and decide the same in accordance with law by passing a speaking order preferably within a period of 02 (two) weeks from today. In case, the needful is not done, respondent No.2 shall be liable to pay costs of Rs.2 lakhs from his/her own pocket to the petitioners, which shall be recoverable as arrears of land revenue.
