(Oral) The petitioner, in the present writ petition, seeks the monetary benefits of the promotional post of Fitter w.e.f. 29.09.2009 till his retirement on 30.05.2014 alongwith all consequential benefits. Counsel submits that in a similar case, CWP No. 25911 of 2015, Suresh Kumar vs. State of Punjab decided on 11.12.2015, directions have been issued to the authorities to decide the representation of a similarly situated person. It is submitted that as per the promotional order dated 29.09.2009 (Annexure P-1), the petitioner was at Sr. No. 8 whereas, the said Suresh Kumar is at Sr. No. 9.
Counsel for the petitioners submits that for the redressal of his grievances, legal notice has been served upon respondent no. 4 on 25.01.2016 (Annexure P-8) but the same is pending consideration and he would be satisfied if a time bound decision is taken on the same. Notice of motion.

Keeping in view the limited relief sought, this Court is of the opinion that there is no need for the respondents to file reply. Accordingly, without commenting on the merits of the case, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent no. 4 to decide the legal notice dated 25.01.2016 (Annexure P-8) within a period of 3 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order. In case the petitioner is found entitled for the said benefit, the same be granted to him within 2 months thereafter. Needless to say if the relief is to be denied, a reasoned order be passed and conveyed to the petitioner. 23.04.2015 (G.S.
