Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioner under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to hear and decide the legal notice dated 01.07.2024 (Annexure P-4) vide which the petitioner has prayed for payment and release of his annual grade increments w.e.f. 01.12.2021 (i.e. increment due on 01.12.2021, 01.12.2022 and 01.12.2023, respectively) along with interest on account of delayed release.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the very outset, confines his prayer for deciding legal notice dated 01.07.2024 (Annexure P-4). Mr. Manbir Singh Batth, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent and has no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to decide legal notice dated 01.07.2024 (Annexure P-4), submitted by the petitioner expeditiously, by passing a speaking order, preferably within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. Necessary benefits, if any, found due to the petitioner shall be released expeditiously preferably within a period of one month thereafter.
