Mr. Arun Gupta, Assistant Advocate General, Punjab. *** PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) This is a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner from respondent Nos. 4 and 5 and not to harass the petitioner. Today, short reply by way of an affidavit of Varinder Singh Khosa, Assistant Commissioner of Police, North Amritsar City has been filed in Court. The same taken on record.
Learned counsel for the State refers to paragraph No. 7 and 8 of the reply which reads as under:- "7. That it is pertinent to submit here that the respondent No. 4 Harshdeep Uppal has given an application bearing No. 765 5AP/ACP North, Dated 23.08.2022 at this office against the petitioner that the petitioner may be restrained from creating from interfering into his peaceful possession as tenant in the property in question as the petitioner is constantly creating hindrance in the smooth living of the respondent no. 4 as ARCHANA ARORA 2022.09.28 17:36 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
CRWP No. 8540 of 2022 (O&M) -2 tenant in the first floor of the property. This application has been marked to SHO PS Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar for taking necessary action as per law and the same is pending for inquiry.

That insofar as the protection of life and liberty of the petitioner from the hands of private respondents no. 4 & 5 is concerned, it is submitted that though the petitioner is not having any kind of threat or danger to her life, liberty and property from the hands of respondents no. 4 & 5, who are none else but son and daughter-in-law of the petitioner, but the police is duty bound to protect life and liberty of every citizen and so is being done in case of the present petitioner and necessary directions have been issued to SHO PS Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar to ensure protection of life, liberty and property of the petitioner. It is also submitted that if the petitioner moves an application to the local police, the same shall be dealt in accordance with law. Therefore, the present petition is liable to be dismissed."
In view of the stand taken by the learned counsel for the State, nothing remains to be adjudicated in the present petition. Consequently, the present petition has been rendered infructuous.
