In this writ petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner has prayed for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to make requisite arrangements for the security of the residents of the petitioner and to allow them to install five steel gates around the society. 2.

The petitioner-society is situated at Zirakpur, District Mohali and is accessible from two highways, i.e. Chandigarh-Ambala and Patiala Road as is discernible from the site plan, Annexure P-1. There has been numerous instances of theft and burglary in the society and the matters were reported to the concerned authorities time and again, but to no effect. The petitioner moved an application dated 10.7.2017 (Annexure P-2) to respondent No.2 for permission to install steel gates around the society for the safety and security of the residents of the society, but no response has Gurbachan Singh 2017.12.20 14:35 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document been received till date. Hence, the present writ petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that for the relief claimed in the writ petition, the petitioner has moved an application dated 10.7.2017 (Annexure P-2) to Executive Officer of respondent No.2, but no action has so far been taken thereon.

After hearing learned counsel for the petitioner, perusing the present petition and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, we dispose of the present petition by directing Executive Officer of respondent No.2 to take a decision on the application dated 10.7.2017 (Annexure P-2), in accordance with law by passing a speaking order and after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner or their authorized representative within a period of one month from the date of receipt of the certified copy of the order.
