Status report by way of affidavit of Mr. Gurinder Pal Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Attari, Amritsar Rural, has been filed by learned State counsel on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 3 in Court today, which is taken on record, subject to all just exceptions. 2.

Learned State counsel on instructions submits that, in fact, the matter has been resolved between the parties and they have been married again as per the rituals by the parents and has submitted that there is no threat perception upon the petitioners. The said marriage was solemnized on 13.08.2023 in the presence of the parents. 3.

That vide order dated 08.08.2023, this Court had posed a question as to whether the girl who has run away from her house and got married to a person against the wishes of her parents should be prohibited from raising any complaint, at least, on the premises of being harassed for PARUL 2023.12.22 16:18 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document demand of dowry.

The said question is kept open to be decided in an appropriate proceedings and the present petition stands disposed of. 5.

It is made clear that filing or pendency of this petition or any order/direction passed in this petition shall not be an alibi or defence to the petitioners, in case, they are found involved in any illegal activity and the respondent-Authorities shall take appropriate action, in accordance with law.
