JASGURPREET SINGH PURI , J. (ORAL ) Petitioners claim that they have attained majority and married against the wishes of their family members. Apprehending threat to their life and liberty, they have filed the present petition for protection. Petitioners claim to have submitted a representation (Annexure P-9) dated 27.11.2020 in this regard to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala.

CRWP-10124-2020 (O&M) Notice of motion to the office of Advocate General, Punjab.

On asking of the Court, Mr.Mehardeep Singh Dulat, Addl. A.G. Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State. The petitioners have placed on record copies of their Matriculation certificates and Aadhar Cards (Annexures P-1 to P-4) as proof of their age as well as photographs (Annexure P-8) and copy of Nikahnama (Annexure P-7) regarding performance of marriage and affidavits (Annexures P5 and P6) accepting Islam.

Without commenting on the validity of marriage, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 - S.H.O., Police Station City Rajpura, District Patiala, that representation, if any, filed seeking protection of life and liberty, be looked into and contents thereof be duly verified and if necessary, requisite steps be taken, strictly in accordance with law for grant of protection of life and liberty to the petitioners. It is made clear that this order shall not be treated as a stamp of this Court regarding marriage of the parties. December 07, 2020.
