PARAMJEET SINGH DHALIWAL, J. (ORAL) Instant writ petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India has been filed for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.1 to 3 to act according to law and implement the minutes of meeting dated 15.10.2015 (Annexure P-1) regarding payment of electricity bills of Government schools. Further prayer has been made to quash the notices dated 28.04.2016 (Annexure P-3) regarding discontinuing the electricity supply and direct respondent No.6 not to disconnect the electricity connection of the school.

Reply by way of short affidavit of Pankaj Sharma, Director Public Instructions (Elementary Education), Punjab, on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2, filed in Court today, is taken on record. -2CWP No.8549 of 2016 Punjab and Mr. Pankaj Sharma, DPI (Elementary Education), Punjab, are present in Court. They have assured the Court that in future no such situation will arise and payments will be regularly made to the Electricity Department directly. Secretary, Education Department has further assured that they will write to the Electricity Department to send the electricity bills to Education Department and not to the Panchayats. So far as bills of the Government School in the case in hand are concerned, the same have already been paid.

In view of above, present petition has been rendered infructuous. Dismissed as infructuous. The assurance given by the Secretary to pay electricity bill of the Government Schools shall be complied with for all intents and purposes.
