IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA,

CHANDIGARH CRWP No. 8770 of 2022 Date of decision : September 20, 2022 Manpreet kaur and another ....... Petitioners

Versus

State of Punjab and others ........ Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE PANKAJ JAIN Present:- Mr. Sagar Sethi, Advocate for Ms. Raj Kumar Bala, Advocate for the petitioners.

*** Pankaj Jain, J (oral).

By way of present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, petitioners seek issuance of directions to respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect their life and liberty at the hands of respondent Nos. 4 to 10. Notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court Mr. Gurdarshan Singh Sidhu, Asstt. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 to 3.

As per petitioners, they have married on 23.08.2022 against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 10, who happen to be the family members/relatives of petitioner No.1 i.e. Manpreet Kaur. Both the petitioners have claimed themselves to be major relying upon their Aadhar Cards indicating that petitioner No.1-Manpreet Kaur is 25.10.2002 born and petitioner No.2-Gurkirat Singh is 14.03.1993 born. Without commenting on the legality and validity of the marriage, I deem it appropriate to direct respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali to look into the representation dated 23.08.2022

ARCHANA ARORA 2022.09.20 16:16 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP No. 8770 of 2022 (Annexure P-7) submitted by the petitioners.

Keeping in view the fact that both the petitioners claim to have married, I think that if possible, respondent No.2 may call a meeting of the petitioners as well as respondents No. 4 to 10 in his presence, so that the parties get rid off their ill feelings and live amicably. The petition stands disposed off.
