(ORAL) The prayer of the petitioner is for protection of life and liberty, as accused against whom an FIR No.173 dated 24.08.2021, under Sections 116 and 506 IPC, at Police Station City-I, Abohar, District Fazilka has been registered on the asking of the petitioner, is forcing the petitioner to compromise and has threatened him with his life and liberty in case of the failure to accept the compromise. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the said grievance of the petitioner apprehending threat to his life and liberty has NARESH KUMAR 2021.10.28 05:04 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRM-M-44830-2021 -2already been brought to the notice of respondent No.2, vide legal notice dated 06.10.2021 (Annexure P-4) and the petitioner will be satisfied, at this stage, in case a time bound direction is issued to respondent No. 2 to decide the said legal notice (Annexure P-4) by passing an appropriate speaking order.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Kirat Singh Sidhu, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has joined the proceedings through video conference, keeping in view the service of advance copy of petition accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State.

Learned State counsel raises no objection with regard to prayer of the petitioner for deciding the legal notice dated 06.10.2021 (Annexure P-4) by respondent No.2 in a time bound manner by passing an appropriate speaking order.

In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioner in legal notice dated 06.10.2021 (Annexure P-4), respondent No.2 is directed to decide the legal notice dated 06.10.2021 (Annexure P-4) by passing a speaking order within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

Present writ petition stands disposed of.
