Mr. Janak Singh Bhinder, Advocate for the petitioners. SANDEEP MOUDGIL, J (ORAL) This Criminal Writ Petition under Article 226 for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus for issuance of direction to official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the instance of private respondents and to restrain the private respondents not to harass the petitioners. Learned State Counsel has submitted that a speaking order has already been passed on the complaint of the petitioners by the authorities concerned and has produced the copy of the same, which is taken on record. He has furnished a copy of the order to counsel for the petitioners.
The relevant part of the speaking order is reproduced below :- "Whereas, a complaint was received from Amarjit kaur wife of Harwinder Singh D/o Sohan Singh resident of Village Kalyan District Patiala, Now resident Villg Bibipur addressed to Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala and also marked to SHO, Police Station Bakshiwala Patiala.
1. Satpal Singh S/o Chhota Singh R/o Village Bibipur
2. Charanjit Kaur w/o Chhota Singh, R/o Village Bibipur The complainant requested necessary protection for her life and liberty.

CRWP-7384-2025 During enquiry, the above mentioned individualsChhota Singh, and Charanjit Kaur- were contacted and their statements were recorded. They stated that they have no objection to the marriage of Amarjit kaur with Harwinder Singh and that they have no intention of interfering in her personal life and causing her any harm. They further stated that after her marriage, Amarjit Kaur had been living peacefully and independently at her paternal home in village Bibipur. In connection with the petition filed by Amarjit Kaur and Harvinder Singh, the statement of the petitioenrs Amarjkit Kaur and Harvinder Singh was recorded. In addition, the statement of their parents Satpal Singh and Charanjit Kaur was also recorded. They have written in their statement that they have no objection to the marriage of Harmanjit Kaur and Harvinder Singh, who are living with us as a family in village Bibipur District Patiala.
In light of the above facts and the statements of the alleged persons, no threat perception has been found at this stage, and no further action is warranted in this matter."
In light of the above, counsel for the petitioner does not wish to press this petition further. The petitioners would be at liberty to file appeal, as is stipulated in the Standard Operating Procedure, in the light of notification No. HOMEHM-40 40SECM/14/2025-2H4/63 dated 23.01.2025 issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Punjab, Government of Punjab (Home-4 Branch), in case of any grievance left.
Petition stands dismissed as not pressed.
