Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that despite the fact that the petitioner had submitted complaint in the Office of respondent No.3-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh on 27.12.2019 (Annexure P-1) and subsequently on 11.2.2020 (Annexure P-3) as regards the harassment being met out to her at the hands of her husband and other members of his family, who had been torturing her mentally and physically and had been demanding dowry, but no action has been taken till date. 2.

At this stage, Mr. C.S. Bakhshi, APP, U.T., Chandigarh, upon whom an advance copy of petition had already been served accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned State counsel has informed that the inquiry could not be concluded as the petitioner had not been associated with the inquiry proceedings. He has, however, assured that in case the petitioner associates herself with the inquiry proceedings, the inquiry shall be concluded within a period 2 months.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has, however, expressed that his client had appeared before the police officials several times and that since she is working in PGIMER, Chandigarh as a Senior Nurse, it is not possible for her to visit the police station frequently. Learned counsel has, however, submitted that the petitioner is willing to appear before the concerned Investigating Officer tomorrow itself.

In view of the aforestated position and while refraining from making any expression as regards merits of the case or as regards averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed off with a direction to the official respondents to look into the matter and to dispose off the representation dated 27.12.2019 (Annexure P-1) and representation dated 11.2.2020 (Annexure P-3) expeditiously in accordance with law. The petitioner would be well advised to associate with the inquiry of the matter. 7.

Since the petitioner has herself offered that she would appear before the Investigating Officer concerned, therefore, the petitioner shall appear before respondent No.4-The S.H.O., Women Police Station, Sector 17, Chandigarh tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Since the petitioner is stated to be serving as Senior Nurse in PGIMER, Chandigarh, respondent No.4 shall ensure that the petitioner is not unnecessarily kept waiting and is not unnecessarily repeatedly called to the police station. Needless to mention, in case the

( 3 ) petitioner is required to be associated with the inquiry proceedings again, it shall be open to the official respondents to call her again while ensuring that some convenient date and time is fixed for the same. Upon the petitioner associating with the inquiry proceedings, the official respondents shall ensure that the needful is done at the earliest and the representations are duly decided expeditiously preferably within a period of 3 months from today. 8.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of representation dated 27.12.2019 (Annexure P-1) and representation dated 11.2.2020 (Annexure P-3) be conveyed to respondent No.3-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh for necessary compliance.
