It is contended by learned counsel for the petitioners that forefathers of the petitioners were allotted plots by the Government/Gram Panchayat under the welfare scheme for landless persons and possession was delivered to them. Residential houses were constructed thereon. As the houses became old and in a bad condition petitioners started renovation and reconstruction on their respective plot. However, respondent No.4, who is the Chairman of the Market Committee, filed a false and frivolous civil suit for declaration and injunction against the petitioners. He has not been granted any stay by the Court till date. It is alleged that despite there being no restraint order against the petitioners, respondent No.4, by misusing his influence, is interfering in the renovation work and is threatening the petitioners with their VIVEK PAHWA 2026.06.11 18:15 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

With these allegations, petitioners have approached this Court for protecting their life and liberty from the hands of respondent No.4 through respondents No.1 to 3.

In view of the above, the petition is disposed of with a direction to the Superintendent of Police, Kaithal to decide the representation dated 08.06.2026 (Annexure P8) within one month with a direction that in case it is found that there is any threat perception to the life and liberty of the petitioners, necessary protection be provided to them.
