Petitioner Lakhwinder Singh has filed petition under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No. 112 dated 05.08.2024 under Sections 406, 498-A of IPC, registered at Women Police Station Sector 17, Chandigarh (Annexure P-1). 2.

Learned counsel for petitioner pointed out that during the pendency of present anticipatory bail petition, matter was referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre where the parties have effected compromise.

Settlement/agreement dated 28.08.2025 received from the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court.

Today in pursuance of said compromise, learned counsel for petitioner has handed over a bank draft of Rs.75,000/- to learned counsel for SUNIL DEVI 2025.09.05 09:38 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

 

 respondent No.2 which is duly accepted by learned counsel for respondent No.2 in pursuance of the terms and conditions of aforesaid settlement/agreement. Photocopy of the bank draft is also retained on the file. Learned counsel for petitioner pointed out that petitioner is ready to abide by the terms and conditions of bail order. Therefore, his anticipatory bail petition may be allowed. 4.

Status report is already filed. Present petition is not opposed by learned counsel representing respondent No.2 in view of the compromise arrived at between the parties in Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court. 5.

In the light of this, no purpose would be served by sending the petition behind the bars. Therefore, without expressing my mind on merits of the case, anticipatory bail petition filed by petitioner Lakhwinder Singh is allowed. He be not arrested. In case of his arrest, he be released on bail to the satisfaction of Arresting/Investigating Officer concerned, subject to condition that petitioner will join investigation as and when required. He will not tamper with or interfere with investigation and will not leave country without prior permission as provided under Section 482(2) of BNSS, 2023.
