The present writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents and also not to harass them at the behest of the private respondents. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 is wife of respondent No.4, however, she is residing separately from him and maintaining herself and her child by doing various household works. Petitioner No.2 is an old friend of petitioner No.1, who is helping her in difficult circumstances. He further submits that respondent No.4 (husband of petitioner No.1) has levelled false allegations of illicit relationship against the petitioners and also instigated respondent No.5 (brother of petitioner No.1) against her, REKHA SIHAG 2026.06.11 14:43 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh
CRWP-6968-2026(O&M) due to which both petitioners have a genuine apprehension of danger to their life and liberty. They have submitted a representation dated 08.06.2026 in this regard before respondent No.2, however, no action has been taken on the same till date.

After hearing learned counsel for the parties, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No. 2 to decide the representation dated 08.06.2026 filed by the petitioners, in accordance with law, as early as possible and grant immediate protection, if any threat to the life and liberty to the petitioners, is perceived. It is being clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners for legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
