1. The petitioners had been appointed as SPOs during the period 1992 to 1995 and were subsequently absorbed as Constables during the year 1999-2010.
2. It has been submitted that the respondents however, are not extending the benefit of continuity of service in respect of the period of service rendered by the petitioners as SPOs prior to their regularization whereas the such service is to be counted for all intents and purposes including the purpose of pensionary/retiral benefits. Learned counsel submits that the case of the petitioners is fully covered by judgment of this Court rendered in CWP9936-2017 titled as Sukhjeet Singh and others Vs. The State of Punjab and others (Annexure P-7). It has further been submitted that although the petitioners served a legal notice dated 28.3.2023 (Annexure P-11) but to no avail.

4. An advance copy of petition having been served upon the respondents, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab who is present in the Court accepts notice.
5. Learned State counsel has submitted that since a legal notice is stated to have been sent by the petitioners, the respondents shall duly consider the same in accordance with law and pass an appropriate order.
6. In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-The Director General of Police, Punjab, to get the legal notice dated 28.3.2023 (Annexure P-11) examined in accordance with law, so that a decision by way of passing a speaking order is taken at the earliest.
7.
