Main case:

The present petition has been filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short-'BNSS') for quashing of FIR No. 0199 dated 15.07.2019 under Sections 420,465,467,468,471 and 120-B IPC of BNS, 2023 registered at Police Station Division No.5 District Police Commissionerate Ludhiana and all the subsequent proceedings arising out of the same qua the petitioners on the basis compromise dated 01.07.2025 (Annexure P-2). 2.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Kamalpreet Bawa, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Learned State counsel states that no other FIR has been registered against the petitioners and they have no known criminal antecedents. 5.

Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Advocate appears and accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.2. He has filed her Vakalatnama in the Court today and the same is taken on record. He confirms the factum of the compromise having been effected between the parties and states that respondent No. 2 has no objection to the quashing of the FIR in question.

In that view of the matter, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences. Therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 7.

Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No. 0199 dated 15.07.2019 under Sections 420,465,467,468,471 and 120-B IPC of BNS, 2023 registered at Police Station Division No.5 District Police Commissionerate Ludhiana and all the subsequent proceedings arising out of the same qua the petitioners on the basis compromise dated 01.07.2025 (Annexure P-2) shall stand quashed qua the petitioners subject to payment of Rs.5,000/- as costs to be paid to the High Court Legal Services Committee.
