The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to the official respondents for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners and for restraining the private respondents No.6 to 8 from interfering in their matrimonial life. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners inter alia contends that both the petitioners are major and copies of their Matriculation Certificates are appended with the petition as Annexures P-1 and P-2, as proof of their age. It is further contended that the petitioners have got married on 04.06.2026 at Gurudwara Saheed Baba Jeevan Singh Ji, Sultanwind Road, Amritsar. The attention of the Court is drawn to the marriage certificate and photographs, which are appended with the petition as Annexure P-3 and P-4 (colly) respectively. It is argued that the private respondents No.6 DINESH KUMAR 2026.06.12 21:29 I am approving this document at the bottom of left side

CRWP-7075-2026 (O&M) -2to 8 and other relatives are opposed to the marriage of petitioner No.1 with petitioner No.2 and thus, there is a serious threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners. It is contended that the petitioners have submitted a representation dated 04.06.2026 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their life and liberty and would be satisfied if at this stage a direction is given to the said respondents to decide the same in accordance with law. 3.

Keeping in view the aforementioned facts and circumstances, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation dated 04.06.2026 (Annexure P-5) strictly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures notified by the State of Punjab vide Notification dated 23.1.2025.

It is clarified that this Court has not commented upon the veracity of the averments made in the present petition, which will be ascertained by the concerned authority, in accordance with law.

Disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
