Versus
State of Punjab and others
...Respondents
CORAM: HON'BLE MS. JUSTICE JAISHREE THAKUR
Present:
Mr. P.K.S. Phoolka, Advocate, for the petitioners.
**** JAISHREE THAKUR, J. (ORAL) The instant writ petition has been filed by the petitioners who are serving as Home Guards with the State of Punjab. It is pleaded that they are fit and able bodied persons and capable of performing their duties for the next two years. They seek the benefit of policy as framed by the State Government whereby extension in service has been granted to government employees. The prayer made is that the said benefit should also be granted to them.
I find that the instant writ petition has been filed without approaching the government for necessary relief and, therefore, a writ of mandamus would not be maintainable at the present stage. Faced with this, Mr. Phoolka, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners prays that the instant writ petition be treated as a representation and case of the petitioners should be decided expeditiously as possible.
Notice of motion.
