(Oral) The petitioner seeks a mandamus for timely disposal of the Election Petition said to have been filed by him on 09.02.2016 challenging the election of respondent No.4 as Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat of his village.
Having regard to the fact that election dispute ought to be resolved expeditiously as there is a specified tenure of the office/post and keeping in view the orders passed in similar circumstances, we dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the learned Election Tribunal to make an endeavour to decide the subject Election Petition expeditiously and preferably within a period of six months from the date of receiving a certified copy of this order.
