Petitioner while working as a Sewerman, a Class IV post, with Municipal Corporation,Ludhiana, on conclusion of disciplinary proceedings, suffered a punishment order dated 14.12.2011 (P-1) whereby he was dismissed from service. The statutory appeal was filed on 14.1.2012 (P-2) before the Appellate Authority i.e. the Regional Deputy Director, Local Government Punjab.

The limited prayer in the present petition is for directing the Appellate Authority to decide the pending appeal within a time frame. Upon a direction to the State counsel to seek instructions, learned Deputy Advocate General, on instructions from Mr.Anil Kumar, Clerk office of Local Government,Punjab states that the pending appeal would be decided positively within two months from today. In view of the stand of the State counsel, counsel for the petitioner does not press the present petition.
