Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioners under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to grant the same pay-scale to the petitioners as has been given to other selected/appointed candidates in terms of advertisements CRA-05/2019 and CRA290/2017 (Annexures P-1 and P-2). 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that although reply to the legal notice has been given by the respondents vide letter dated 04.07.2024 but however, neither the claim of the petitioners has been accepted nor rejected in view of the Finance Circular No.29 of 2024 (Annexure P-7). Learned counsel for the petitioners confines his prayer for deciding legal notice dated 21.05.2024 (Annexure P-5). Mr. Rajesh Sehgal, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and 5 whereas Mr. R.P.S. Bara, Advocate, has accepted notice on behalf of respondent No.4 and have no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioners.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.5 to take a final decision on legal notice dated 21.05.2024 (Annexure P-5), submitted by the petitioners expeditiously, by passing a speaking order, preferably within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
