RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Instant writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of an appropriate writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.1 to 3 to ensure that enquiry into the allegations of embezzlement of Panchayat funds made by respndent No.5/Sarpanch of G.P. Village Bishankot, Block Kalanaur, District Gurdaspur, which has been initiated on the basis of representations, dated 23.05.2022 and 22.06.2022, Annexures P-1 and P-2, submitted by the petitioner and other residents of the village is conducted impartially and in accordance with the provisions of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994. It is further prayed to issue directions to respondent No.2 to consider and decide the representation, dated 24.04.2023, Annexure P-6. It has been contended by counsel for the petitioner that representation, Annexure P-6, was filed on 24.04.2023 but no decision has been taken on the same till date.

After hearing counsel for the parties and going through the facts and circumstances of the case, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2, i.e. Director Panchayat and Rural Development, Punjab, to decide the representation, dated 24.04.2023, Annexure P-6 expeditiously in accordance with law preferably within one month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
