The petitioner has approached this Court seeking grant of regular bail in respect of a case registered vide FIR No.90 dated 29.5.2018 at Police Station Sultanwind, District Amritsar under Sections 420 and 120-B of Indian Penal Code, wherein offence under Section 201 IPC was added later on. 2.

The FIR in question was lodged at the instance of Harpreet Singh and Sucha Singh, wherein it has been alleged that the petitioner has duped them of an amount of `12.5 lakhs.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the matter has been amicable resolved amongst the parties and that the entire amount has been returned to the complainant.

The learned counsel for the complainant has not disputed the aforesaid assertion and has admitted the factum of compromise. 5.

The learned State counsel has, however, opposed the application on the ground that since huge amount is involved in the present case, no case for grant of bail is made out.

I have considered rival submissions addressed before this Court. 7.

Keeping in view the fact that the entire amount is stated to have been returned back to the complainant and that the petitioner has been behind bars since the last more than one year and five months, further detention of the petitioner will not serve any useful purpose as conclusion of trial is likely to take some time.

The petition, as such, is accepted and it is ordered that the petitioner be released on bail subject to his furnishing bail bonds/surety bonds to the satisfaction of learned trial Court/Chief Judicial Magistrate/Duty Magistrate concerned.
